2026: Hollywood star, West End actress
Rosa Salazar spent most of 2026 on a London stage. Early in the year she played opposite Billy Crudup and Denise Gough in the West End production of High Noon, and in June she opened at the Old Vic as Ricky Roma, the sharkiest salesman in David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross, in Patrick Marber’s all-female revival next to Indira Varma. She told The Independent she needed to prove to herself that she still liked acting, and that the stage gave her back the process she had missed on big film sets.
From living in her car to Alita
Her own story is wilder than most of her films. In the same interview she talked about a very chaotic childhood, a period when she lived out of her car and a stint in stand-up comedy before the sketch videos that got her noticed. Her plan was theatre first, then TV, then movies. Instead it went the other way round, straight into Divergent, Maze Runner and a $405 million James Cameron blockbuster.
Vampires and new projects
On screen she is back in 2026 with Vampires of the Velvet Lounge, a vampire film where she plays Alexis next to Dichen Lachman and Mena Suvari, and she has moved behind the camera too, with producer credits of her own.

After early web comedy she broke through on television in American Horror Story: Murder House and NBC’s Parenthood, then moved into blockbusters with Insurgent and two Maze Runner films as Brenda. In 2019 she led Alita: Battle Angel opposite Christoph Waltz and Jennifer Connelly, and the same year began Undone on Prime Video. Brand New Cherry Flavor followed in 2021, Play Dirty in 2025, and the London stage in 2026.
