Kriti Sanon just turned into a horror girlfriend, and the internet is losing it. She and her Bhediya co-star Varun Dhawan have dubbed the Hindi version of Curry Barker’s horror hit Obsession, and a 45-second clip of the two of them recreating the film’s restaurant scene has been all over my X feed since Thursday. One fan account’s post of it had passed 1.6 million views by Friday morning (@forkritisanon on X).
This is the 45-second clip that blew up on X. Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan recreate Obsession’s restaurant scene for the Hindi version, her in an off-shoulder sweater, him with blood on his jumper. She goes from sweet to screaming to cuddling him in seconds, and honestly she nails Nikki’s creepiness.

The clip everyone is sharing
It opens in a dim restaurant booth. Varun sits there looking nervous in a striped sweater, and Kriti slides in wearing an off-shoulder knit, all sweet smiles. Seconds later she is on her feet screaming, his sweater is covered in blood, and then she is curled up against his neck like nothing happened. If you have seen Obsession, you know exactly which scene this is.
The fan account that posted it wrote: “No one can do the Indian version better than her. I said NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE.” When I checked at about 8 a.m. Bangkok time on Oct. 30, the post had 1.69 million views, 15,800 likes and more than 3,600 bookmarks (X). JioHotstar’s own announcement post had passed 750,000 views (JioHotstar on X).
Kriti is Nikki, Varun is Bear
Obsession: The Original Uncut Version streams from Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. IST, which is 8:30 p.m. here in Bangkok, on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar, in English and Hindi. Kriti voices Nikki, the role Inde Navarrette plays on screen, and Varun voices Bear, played by Michael Johnston. Amar Kaushik, who directed the two of them in Bhediya, brought the Hindi version together (News9, NDTV Profit).
JioHotstar kept it secret until the last minute. “We wished we could tell you sooner, but where’s the fun in that?” the platform wrote (JioHotstar on X). Hindustan Times reports that when the trio first teased the project, fans assumed it was a Bhediya 2 announcement (Hindustan Times).
What Kriti said
This is her first time dubbing someone else’s performance. “I absolutely loved the film and the performances in Obsession. It’s such a gripping, quirky & twisted story. I’ve never explored a character this edgy before, which made the experience even more exciting & challenging,” she said. “This is also the first time I’ve lent my voice to another actor’s performance, and I couldn’t have asked for a more exciting film to make that debut with!” (Hindustan Times).
JioStar’s Alok Jain said the pair “bring a strong cross-generational appeal” and that “their familiarity in the horror genre” made them right for it (Moneycontrol).
What is Obsession about?
Bear is a shy music-store clerk who is in love with his co-worker Nikki and can’t tell her. At a crystal shop he buys a One Wish Willow, snaps it and wishes for Nikki to love him more than anything in the world. It works. At first it is a dream, then her love turns overwhelming, unpredictable and violent (News9). Hindustan Times puts the film’s worldwide box office at $522 million (Hindustan Times).
Here is the official JioHotstar promo, with the two of them in the dark car:
This is the JioHotstar promo that let the secret out. Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan sit in a dark car, trading lines as Nikki and Bear before the Obsession title card drops. Short and moody, and hearing her voice on a twisted horror girlfriend is exactly why I’m watching the Hindi version.
Kriti’s very busy October
The Obsession news lands a week after Kriti made headlines at the NDTV World Summit on Oct. 24. She talked about the bikini scene in Cocktail 2, her first in 12 years of acting: “I had never worn a bikini until then in my life. I wouldn’t have done it six-eight years ago… Now, I’m comfortable in my body” (NDTV). On the film’s mixed reviews she said, “I love when my films get polarised views” (NDTV).
She also called herself “old school at heart” about love: no open relationships, no “situationships,” and a partner should be “a little jealous” if another man flirts with her (NDTV). That comes after a month of rumours about businessman Kabir Bahia, whom she is reported to be dating. A photo of him with another woman went viral, and a source told The Times of India she is a family friend he considers “like a sister” (The Times of India). Neither of them has ever confirmed the relationship.
My take
I have watched Kriti Sanon play robots, twins, a surrogate mother and an air hostess, but I have never seen her this unhinged, and I love it. Forty-five seconds of sweet, scary and clingy is a better audition for a real horror film than any trailer. Bollywood, give this woman a proper psycho thriller. Until then, I’m watching Obsession in Hindi tonight at 8:30 Bangkok time. — Nico Grey

Kriti Sanon’s hottest scenes
From her hub, three clips I keep going back to:
This is the one Kriti Sanon herself brought up at the NDTV World Summit. In the Leher song from Cocktail 2 (2026) she wades into the sea at golden hour in her first ever on-screen bikini, hair wet and glowing, while Shahid Kapoor watches. Twelve years in the making, and I’d say worth every one.
Akhiyaan Gulaab from Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) is my favourite Kriti Sanon song. She plays Sifra, a robot built so perfectly that Shahid Kapoor falls for her, and here she dances through a beach party in a short dress before a close, slow sunset moment with him.
Thumkeshwari from Bhediya (2022) is Kriti Sanon at her most dazzling. A waterfall, a forest full of dancers, and Kriti spinning in red next to Varun Dhawan, the same co-star who now voices Bear to her Nikki in Obsession. I still catch myself replaying the hook step.
