I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, so trust me on this: a photo can tell you who is touching whom. It can’t tell you when it was taken, or what it means. Two pictures of Jennifer Lopez wrapped around Ben Affleck went viral overnight, captioned “reunites.” The pictures are real. The caption is doing a lot of work.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are talking again. That much, a source told OK! Magazine. Whether they’re back together is another story. A post from fan account @Hisomtheboat on Friday, Oct. 30, claimed Jennifer Lopez “reunites with her ex-husband Ben Affleck,” over two photos of the former couple hugging next to a black car. It passed 445,000 views and 1,800 likes in under a day. The post doesn’t say when or where the photos were taken, and no outlet we checked has dated them.
The talk behind it is real, though. On Oct. 25, an insider told OK! the exes have been “communicating regularly and providing emotional support for each other during an unexpectedly challenging period in both their lives.” StyleCaster picked it up on Oct. 27 (via Yahoo), saying it’s “unclear” whether this turns romantic a third time. What happened: two photos and one big caption
The two pictures went up at 12:16 p.m. ET on Friday (11:16 p.m. Bangkok time). In the first, Ben has an arm around Jennifer’s neck while she hugs him and looks back over her shoulder at the camera. In the second, she holds a stack of white papers up to hide her face, and he stares straight at the lens. She’s in a black sleeveless jumpsuit and wedge sandals. He’s in a grey T-shirt and jeans, with a phone, sunglasses and a pen in his hands. There’s a trailer at the left edge of the frame.
That’s all the pictures say. Neither star has posted anything, and neither has a rep commenting. So treat the word “reunites” as the fan account’s caption, not as news.
What the “talking again” report actually says
The OK! Magazine report, by Aaron Tinney, is built on unnamed sources. One says Jennifer “was particularly attentive following the deaths of Ben’s mom and dad,” and that Ben has been offering her “reassurance” through a big change at home this year. Another says “‘Bennifer’ could rise again,” then right away pumps the brakes: “For now, there’s clearly still considerable mutual respect between them, and that may ultimately be more important than whether they become a couple again.”
The same source says that if they ever tried again, “they would need to approach it very differently,” with “much clearer boundaries around their private lives.” IBTimes UK put it plainly: the claim rests on one unnamed OK! source, and neither Jennifer nor Ben has confirmed any of it.

The viral post is from fan account @Hisomtheboat. It passed 445,000 views on X by Saturday morning Bangkok time. We’re not rehosting the two photos because we don’t know who shot them or when. The post below shows them. OK! Magazine’s post is the report the “reunion” talk actually comes from. People and Page Six covered what Ben has said on the record this month.
I’ve had a woman throw her arms around my neck on set a hundred times. Usually it means “thank God we’re done for the day,” not “marry me again.” Look at those photos like a photographer. Papers that look like script pages in her hand, a pen and a phone in his, a trailer in the corner. That’s a work day. Not a soft launch.
And the papers over her face? That’s the oldest move in Hollywood. You hide your face when you know there’s a lens and you don’t want the shot. A woman soft-launching a reunion doesn’t hide. She poses.
Here’s what I do believe. These two genuinely like each other. Ben called her “probably the hardest working person” he’s ever known two weeks ago. That’s not a man trying to win her back. That’s a man who’s finally comfortable being her friend. And with Jen reportedly having fun with Brett Goldstein, the only thing getting a third season here is the internet.

What’s actually on the record
Here’s what both of them have said in public, with their names on it, this month:
- Ben, Oct. 7, to Variety: asked why Jennifer gets overlooked at awards time, he said: “I’m biased. I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for what she can do.” Page Six called it a rare comment, two years after the divorce.
- Ben, Oct. 14, on a podcast while promoting his movie “Animals”: he said he “learned a lot” from her and called her “probably the hardest working person I’ve ever known,” per People.
- Jennifer, Oct. 28, talking about her new deluxe edition of the 2011 album “Love?”: she remembered “a time in my life when I was questioning things and was really trying to figure love out,” and said of the new track “Proof of Love” that “you have to find it within yourself,” per the Daily Mail. No word about Ben.
Respect, admiration, and a song about finding love within yourself. None of that is a reunion. It’s two exes who are on good terms, which in Hollywood is almost rarer.

So where does Brett Goldstein fit?
Right where he was last week. The same StyleCaster story that repeated OK!’s report says Jennifer and Brett were spotted at a party together in Los Angeles on Friday, Oct. 16, and that things are reportedly casual. Neither of them has confirmed anything. Back in their “Office Romance” press run, they told Today they were “not dating.” We covered the whole Brett timeline here. Nothing in the new report says Jennifer has stopped seeing him, and nothing says Ben is in the picture romantically.
Confirmed vs. what we don’t know
Confirmed: the viral post and its two photos (Oct. 30), OK!’s source report (Oct. 25), Ben’s on-record praise in Variety (Oct. 7) and on a podcast (Oct. 14, via People), Jennifer’s Oct. 28 comments about love and her album, and their 2025 red carpet reunion at “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
Not known: when and where the viral photos were taken, whether the two are seeing each other in person, and whether anything romantic is going on. Neither star or their reps have commented on the OK! report.
