I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and here’s a secret from all those sets: hands are the most underrated body part in the business. Heidi Klum just built a whole costume around one.

The wait is over: Heidi Klum is a giant, bloody, severed hand. The Queen of Halloween unveiled her 2026 costume on Saturday night, Oct. 31, at her annual Halloween party in New York. The Hollywood Reporter describes a bloody wrist, her head set at the center of the hand, ring-covered fingers and a fresh manicure (The Hollywood Reporter).
She made an entrance, too. She arrived in a truck covered in red “danger” signs and was helped to the ground by actors in yellow hazmat suits (THR). Within minutes Pop Crave’s photo (“TALK TO THE HAND”) and Pop Base’s post had each passed 19,000 views and 1,200 likes on X (Pop Crave, Pop Base).
I’ve watched this on loop. Heidi Klum’s own Instagram reel opens on her real hand, red nails walking across the floor, then cuts to the full Halloween 2026 costume: a giant severed hand strutting on two fingers, gold rings and a bloody wrist. The second half is her New York party carpet, posing for every camera.

The costume, up close
From the front it’s a hand the size of a person, skin-toned and veined, with dark red almond nails and chunky gold rings, including a big green-stoned ring on one finger. The top is a torn, dripping wrist with red sinew hanging down, and carved into the back of the hand is a small, bloody face. On the carpet she balances on two fingers like legs while the thumb and the other fingers reach out to the sides.
Back in October she promised USA Today that her “body is going to fit in a shape that normally a human body would not fit in” (USA Today). She wasn’t kidding. She had also told People in September the look would be “very, very bloody” and would go “very well with red wine” (People).
See it: the reveal everyone is sharing
Her own reveal reel starts on her real hand, red nails walking across the floor, before the monster version walks in:
Short, cheeky and very Heidi. In her Halloween 2026 reveal reel Heidi Klum crawls across a studio floor smiling into the lens, red nails tapping like little legs, before the giant hand costume walks into frame on its fingertips. Twelve seconds that ended a week of fan guessing.

Nico’s take: the most famous body in modeling just became a hand
Let me be honest about why this works for me, and it isn’t the blood. For decades people paid good money to see Heidi Klum’s body: Sports Illustrated, the Victoria’s Secret wings, the python. And once a year she takes that body, the thing that made her rich, and hides every inch of it. My take: that is the smartest brand move in celebrity Halloween.

On my sets the hands do half the work. A hand on a hip, nails on a thigh, fingers in someone’s hair: that is where the heat is, and most directors never shoot it properly. Heidi just made the hand the star.
Look at the details: a fresh red manicure, rings stacked like a Fifth Avenue window, walking on two fingers like she’s in heels on a runway. That’s not a monster. That’s a supermodel strut wearing a different body. It’s camp, it’s gross and, I’ll say it, it’s a little bit sexy.
My bet: this one wins the year on clicks over last year’s Medusa, because everyone gets the joke in one second. Talk to the hand.

One more thing from where I sit: hiding is also the best tease. Fans spent a week zooming into organ-looking prosthetics, guessing The Substance, Vecna and a coral reef (Vanity Fair, Gulf News). Nobody guessed a hand. In my world we call that a reveal, and she nailed the timing like a pro.

How we got here
- 2000: Klum throws her first Halloween party in New York.
- Sept. 2026: she tells People this year’s costume will be “very, very bloody” (People).
- Oct. 24, 2026: first Instagram teaser, “What’s my costume? One week to go…” with organ-like prosthetic pieces (E! News).
- Oct. 27-30, 2026: more teasers: glossy prosthetics, fungus-like pieces, a mouthpiece. Her longtime makeup artist Mike Marino calls it “one of the most elaborate costumes ever made” (Vanity Fair, THR).
- Oct. 29, 2026: she tells USA Today her body will fit “a shape that normally a human body would not fit in” (USA Today). We rounded up every hint here.
- Oct. 31, 2026: the severed hand arrives by “danger” truck at Cathédrale Restaurant at Moxy East Village, at a party presented by Apothic and Butterfinger (THR).
Her Halloween greatest hits
The hand joins a long line of looks where she disappears completely: a worm, E.T., a peacock, Fiona from Shrek, Jessica Rabbit and, last year, Medusa with moving snakes for hair, while husband Tom Kaulitz came as the soldier she turned to stone (THR, People). The “very bloody” promise had a business side too: Apothic sold limited-edition Apothic x Heidi Klum Type ‘A’ Blood Bags, which were also served at the party (THR).

Heidi without the latex
The body she hid tonight is the one that made her famous. Three clips from her hub I’d start with:
Here’s the Heidi Klum who never needed latex. In Seal’s music video Secret (2010), shot in soft black and white, his hands slide over her bare skin while she leans into him with her eyes closed, her naked body glimpsed in tight, artful close-ups. Tender, intimate and seriously sensual.
Water, skin and silver light. Heidi Klum’s LOVE magazine Advent film is a black-and-white bath scene: she lies back in the tub, wet hair across her face, the camera drifting over her body with two little stars over her nipples. Dreamy fashion-film nudity, the total opposite of a bloody hand.
My favourite Heidi ad, no contest. In the Guitar Hero World Tour spot (2008) she does Risky Business, sliding across a living room in a white shirt, panties and socks, then strips to a black lace bra and shreds a plastic guitar on the bed. Thirty seconds of pure fun and legs.
