I’ll open with the scene that made Marvel history. In Eternals (2021) Gemma Chan’s Sersi lies back on the dark sand while Richard Madden’s shirtless Ikaris moves over her, her bare shoulders pressed to the rocks and her eyes closing as he kisses her. Short, moody and genuinely hot.

Gemma Chan Sex Scene in Eternals (2021)
Film: Eternals (2021), directed by Chloé Zhao | Role: Sersi, an immortal Eternal who can transform matter
Eternals made headlines as the first Marvel Studios film with a sex scene. Sersi and Ikaris (Richard Madden) reunite at sunset in the ancient past, kiss among the rocks and make love on the beach that night. Her co-stars include Angelina Jolie as Thena and Salma Hayek as Ajak.
Beach sex scene with Ikaris (0:24)
Here’s the full Eternals (2021) beach love scene on its own. Gemma Chan, as Sersi, pulls Ikaris down onto the sand at night, her hands on his bare back, then the camera stays on her face as she tips her head back and gasps. Marvel’s first real sex scene, and she owns it.
Sunset kiss before the love scene (0:26)
Before the beach, Eternals (2021) gives Sersi and Ikaris this golden-hour reunion. Gemma Chan, in her green suit, wraps her arms around Richard Madden’s neck among the rocks and palm trees, and the kiss gets deeper and hungrier while the sun sets behind them. Fully clothed, all build-up.
Gemma Chan Sex Scene in Extrapolations (2023)
Series: Extrapolations (Apple TV+), episode 6 “2066: Lola” | Role: Natasha Alper, a single mother in London
In the climate anthology’s sixth episode, Natasha rents a companion, Ezra (Tahar Rahim), and the arrangement turns into something she can’t forget. The scene plays out at night against a window full of city lights.
Sex scene with Tahar Rahim (0:37)
Extrapolations (2023) turns up the heat in episode 6. Gemma Chan’s Natasha Alper and Tahar Rahim’s Ezra tear at each other against a window of blue city lights, his shirt gone and her pressed to the glass, then they kiss face to face, breathless. A properly steamy sex scene, shot in the dark.
Gemma Chan and Katie McGrath in Dates (2013)
Series: Dates (Channel 4), episode 4 | Role: Erica, on a first date with Kate (Katie McGrath)
Bryan Elsley’s anthology follows a different first date in each episode. In Erica and Kate’s story the date ends on a dance floor and then in bed.
Morning-after bed scene (1:06)
Now for my favourite morning after. In Dates (2013), episode 4, Gemma Chan’s Erica wakes up nude under white sheets next to Katie McGrath’s Kate; the camera glides along bare skin, then the two women lie face to face, smile, and start kissing again. Soft, sensual and very real.
Club kiss on the dance floor (0:39)
Rewind to the night before in Dates (2013). Gemma Chan, as Erica, is lost on a neon-lit dance floor with Katie McGrath, faces bathed in blue and green light, lips brushing, then a deep kiss in the crowd. It’s the slow-burn lesbian club kiss that leads straight to that bed.

Gemma Chan in Secret Diary of a Call Girl
Series: Secret Diary of a Call Girl (ITV2), series 3 and 4 | Role: Bambi, an escort trained by Belle | What you see: latex, lingerie, costume scenes
Gemma Chan joined the series opposite Billie Piper’s Belle as Bambi, the new girl Belle takes under her wing. Her storylines put her in a run of latex and lingerie outfits.
Dominatrix scene with Belle (0:30)
Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2010-2011) gets kinky in the pink bedroom. Gemma Chan’s Bambi and Billie Piper’s Belle, both in black tailcoats, stalk around a client sitting on the bed in a corset, then close in on him, Belle kissing his neck and bare chest. Playful domination, everyone clearly into it.
Red latex outfit (0:21)
Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2010-2011) never dressed anyone like this. Gemma Chan, as Bambi, struts into the living room in a skin-tight red-and-black latex outfit with a plunging neckline, poses in front of the fireplace and then faces the room while a young brunette watches. Pure costume-party heat.
Black lingerie (0:21)
Intercut with Billie Piper’s Belle chatting in a London cab, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2010-2011) keeps flashing to Gemma Chan’s Bambi posing in black lace lingerie and stockings. Big Ben drifts past the window, Belle talks on the phone, and Bambi steals every cut she’s in.
Black latex dress and gloves (0:30)
This is where I fell for Bambi’s wardrobe. In Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2010-2011), Gemma Chan sweeps in wearing a glossy black latex dress with a white collar, finger-waved hair and leather gloves, then stares down a girl in a plaid shirt at the front door. Fully covered, still very sexy.
Red latex on the sofa (0:11)
Tiny clip, big outfit. Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2010-2011) shows Gemma Chan’s Bambi stretched out on the sofa in shiny red latex, sipping champagne and leafing through a notebook, while a young brunette in a purple dress sits across from her looking thoroughly unimpressed.
Gemma Chan in Humans (2015)
Series: Humans (Channel 4/AMC), season 1 | Role: Anita/Mia, a synth bought by the Hawkins family | What you see: swimsuit
The role that made her name. In this short clip, footage of her synth character swimming underwater plays on a lab monitor.
Underwater swimsuit footage (0:16)
A quick one from the show that made her famous. In Humans (2015), season 1, footage of Gemma Chan’s synth Anita/Mia swimming underwater in a blue swimsuit plays on a lab monitor, her long hair floating around her smile, while scientists watch the screen. Short, strange and oddly beautiful.
