I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and the hardest look to sell on camera is cute. Cute kills heat. Put a grown woman in pink bows and plush ears and nine times out of ten the room goes cold. Doja Cat walked into her own 31st birthday party dressed as a Sanrio puppy, in a fuzzy bra and micro shorts, and the room did not go cold.
Doja Cat’s Halloween costume in 2026 was Mocha, the brown puppy from Sanrio’s Cinnamoroll universe, worn to her Sanrio-themed 31st birthday party at Living Room in Los Angeles on Friday, Oct. 23. She turned 31 on Oct. 21, and, per Elle, “the Vie singer seemed to channel the beloved Sanrio character Mocha,” the fashionable brown dog who leads the Cinnamoangels idol group. Teen Vogue put it in its celebrity Halloween costumes of 2026 roundup: “a fuzzy bra top and micro shorts, then finished the look with matching heels and floppy ears.”
The party photos fill in the rest: a caramel-brown fuzzy bra with pink bows, matching fuzzy micro shorts, a furry hood with long floppy puppy ears and pink flowers, tan platform heels, and an armful of plush puppies plus a bag stuffed with more plushies. Holr describes the same “fuzzy brown outfit and an oversized hood with long ears,” with pink bows, floral touches and matching plush toys. The Mocha costume, piece by piece
- The top: a caramel fuzzy bra with little pink bows. Teddy-bear fabric, lingerie cut.
- The bottoms: matching fuzzy micro shorts, low on the hip, with sheer tan tights that make the whole body read as one plush color.
- The ears: a furry hood with long floppy puppy ears hanging to her chest, decorated with pink flowers. That is Mocha’s signature silhouette.
- The shoes: tan platform heels in the same tone, so nothing breaks the line.
- The props: plush puppies under her arm and a bag overflowing with Sanrio plushies. In the Greg Noire portraits she adds pink heart-shaped sunglasses.
The bra top, micro shorts, heels and ears are from Teen Vogue; the brown hood, bows, flowers and plush toys from Holr and the party photos. The tights, platforms and sunglasses are what the photos show. A note on names: Teen Vogue’s roundup labels the look Cinnamoroll and one agency caption called it My Melody, but Elle, Holr and Doja’s fan pages all say Mocha, and the brown fur settles it. Cinnamoroll is white; Mocha is the brown one.
Nico’s take: she made a pencil-case brand grown-up
Sanrio sells pencil cases and keychains. Doja looked at a cartoon puppy and saw a two-piece. That is the whole trick, and it is harder than it looks.
On set, when a girl wants to play sweet, I tell her the costume can be cute but the body language can’t be. Doja knows that. Look at the photos: the outfit is all pink bows and teddy fur, and she stands like she owns the building, hip out, chin down, plushies held like trophies. The fabric says cuddly. The cut says something else. That gap is where the heat lives.
And she didn’t stop. A week later she did it again as Pinkie Pie on a Vegas stage. Two kids’ cartoons in eight days, both turned into grown-woman looks. Nobody else on this year’s list commits like that. My take: Doja doesn’t wear costumes, she builds worlds and moves into them.

One more thing from my side of the camera. A birthday party is the hardest crowd there is, because everybody came to look at you. She made the guest list part of the costume: Doechii in colors that matched Azuki, another Cinnamoangel; Latto in espresso brown and Barbie pink; Shay Mitchell carrying plush characters (Elle). When the whole room plays your theme, you are not the girl in the costume, you are the director.
Halloween night: Doja Cat as Pinkie Pie in Las Vegas
On Saturday, Oct. 31, Doja played the Las Vegas stop of her Tour Ma Vie World Tour at T-Mobile Arena, with Latto as special guest (Live Nation). Fan accounts then posted a mirror-selfie clip of her as Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony: a voluminous pink curly wig, pink pony ears, a glossy pink corset with white cloud-shaped cups and a rainbow down the front, pink feather trim, pastel blue eye makeup and a crystal choker. Doja Base says she wore it “in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena at her show for Halloween.” We have not seen a press write-up of the Vegas look yet, so treat the where and when as the fan accounts’ report; the clip itself is clearly her.

Mocha is a brown puppy from Sanrio’s Cinnamoroll world, the friend of Cinnamoroll, the white puppy with long ears. Elle describes her as “fashionable and talkative” and the leader of the Cinnamoangels, an idol group with Chiffon and Azuki. Sanrio is the Japanese company behind Hello Kitty and My Melody. Pinkie Pie is the party-loving pink pony from Hasbro’s My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
