I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and the one thing money can’t build on set is a creature. You can rent fog. You can hire a moon. But a woman who looks like she just crawled out of the sea to ruin your night? She either has it or she doesn’t. On Halloween, Megan Fox showed she has it, webbed fingers and all.

Megan Fox didn’t dress up as a mermaid for Halloween. She dressed up as the thing mermaids warn you about. On Saturday, Oct. 31, the “Jennifer’s Body” star posted a moonlit beach shoot on her Instagram: a liquid-metal bra that looks like it’s melting down her body, a beaded mesh tail, webbed prosthetic hands and a caption straight out of a sailor’s nightmare: “the song was the trap, and the sea was the grave.” InStyle says it was shot by photographer Cibelle Levi.
It’s her second monster in five days, and it went viral overnight. Below: the look piece by piece, what that caption really means, how it stacks up against every Megan Halloween we know about, and the screen roles where she’s already played something not quite human. Every one of those scenes is on her Scandal Planet hub.
See it: her post and the reposts that blew it up
Megan posted the shoot on her own Instagram on Saturday, Oct. 31. By Sunday morning (Bangkok time), fan reposts on X had passed 228,000 views (FearBuck), 120,000 (Pictures Folder) and 92,000 (Daily Loud), and Daily Mail Celebrity had it too. Her post comes first:
What happened: the look, piece by piece
Here’s what the photos show, credited to the outlets that described them first:
- The top: a “barely-there liquid bra that seemed to melt down her neck, across her chest, and over her stomach,” per InStyle. Daily Mail calls it a “shimmering silver bra,” and HOLR a “metallic shell-style top.”
- The tail: a fishnet-style mesh skirt with beading that “doubled as a mermaid tail,” InStyle says; Daily Mail describes a “sheer grey mermaid tail.”
- The hands: prosthetic webbing between her fingers, long black stiletto nails and silver hand makeup painted like fish scales (InStyle).
- The face: piercing blue contact lenses, long black lashes, a glossy pink lip and dozens of tiny rhinestones across her face; Daily Mail adds “iridescent silver and violet glam.”
- The hair and the set: wet-look waves, a big rock on the shore, dark clouds and fog rolling off the water. Daily Mail says some frames show her “plunging into dark waters under the glow of the moon.”
She didn’t add an explanation, a tag list or a brand. Just the photos and one line. In Brazil, Marie Claire reported fans flooding the comments with “Rainha” (queen), and one joked she was Iemanjá, the sea goddess.
Nico’s take: why this is the smartest costume of Halloween

Anybody can buy a costume. Almost nobody can sell a myth. Megan just sold one with a moon, some fog and webbed fingers, and the internet paid in views. That’s not a Halloween post, that’s a pitch deck.
And the caption? “The song was the trap.” Daily Mail went straight to MGK. My bet: she doesn’t need to put him in the sentence to make him feel it. Five days ago she wanted a Bella. Now she’s drowning sailors. Gentlemen, read the warning label before you swim out.
If I ran a studio, I’d hand her a sea-monster franchise by Monday. Until somebody wakes up, the real thing is waiting.

The water scenes, the wings and the android: her hub has “Subservience,” “Passion Play,” “How to Lose Friends & Alienate People,” “This Is 40,” “Expend4bles” and more, each with its own player.
The caption, decoded: she’s a siren, not a mermaid
“The song was the trap, and the sea was the grave” is siren talk. In the old Greek stories, sirens sang so beautifully that sailors steered toward them and wrecked on the rocks. In Homer’s “Odyssey,” Odysseus has his crew plug their ears with beeswax and ties himself to the mast so he can hear the song and live. Ariel wants legs. A siren wants you underwater.
So is the line about someone? Megan hasn’t said. HOLR points out she gave no explanation and the meaning is “open to interpretation.” Daily Mail put it next to the news that her ex Machine Gun Kelly has moved on with Dakota Johnson, and repeated a TMZ report from October that sources say she is “unbothered,” single and focused on making money. That’s the outlet’s framing, not hers. Nothing in the post names anyone.
Two monsters in one week
This is Megan’s second Halloween shoot of 2026. On Oct. 26 she posted a candlelit gallery as a vampire, a sheer white lace dress over burgundy lingerie, asking “who’s going to be the bella to my edward,” as InStyle recalls. Five days later the vampire became a sea creature. Same dark mood, different monster, and this time she didn’t ask anyone to audition.
She wasn’t the only mermaid of the weekend, either. ABC News reports Ashley Graham lip-synced “Part of Your World” dressed as Ariel. Two mermaids, two very different moods: Ashley went Disney, Megan went shipwreck.

Every Megan Fox Halloween we know about
- 2022: three looks with then-fiancé Machine Gun Kelly. Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, then a priest and a dominatrix-style “sinner,” then Princess Zelda and Link at a West Hollywood party, per Just Jared. When she posted the Zelda photos on Nov. 11, she joked she’d “very seriously looked into elf ear modification after this,” Page Six reports.
- 2023: Gogo Yubari from “Kill Bill,” with fake blood, per InStyle.
- 2024: Padmé Amidala from “Star Wars,” in a red floral costume and headpiece over white makeup (InStyle).
- Oct. 26, 2026: the “Twilight” vampire, lace and candles.
- Oct. 31, 2026: the siren, shot by Cibelle Levi.
Our ranking: the siren wins. Zelda was fun, Padmé was pretty, Gogo was gory. The siren is the first one that looks like a movie poster.
Megan has played “not quite human” before
The siren fits because she’s been here on screen. A few roles worth knowing, all on her hub:
- “Passion Play” (2010): she plays Lily, a woman with wings kept in a traveling carnival, opposite Mickey Rourke and Bill Murray. A literal mythical creature in a glass case.
- “Subservience” (2024): she plays Alice, a household android who becomes dangerously attached to her owner, played by Michele Morrone. The shower scene is the one everybody remembers.
- “How to Lose Friends & Alienate People” (2008): as starlet Sophie Maes, she walks straight through a pool at a party, laughing. The siren’s dry run.
- “Mortal Kombat 1” (2023): she voiced and modeled the vampire Nitara for the video game.

— Nico. Five days, two monsters, zero explanations. If she drops a third look or finally tells us who the song was for, you’ll read it here first. Until then, Megan’s hub is where the sirens really sing.
